Bitcoin Japan Plans $60 Million Raise to Acquire Bitcoin Holdings
Bitcoin Japan, a company that currently does not hold any Bitcoin, is planning a $60 million raise with EVO Fund specifically to purchase the cryptocurrency. This strategic shift follows previous investments in AI infrastructure companies like SpaceX and Figure AI.
Bitcoin Japan's Strategic Pivot to Bitcoin Acquisition
Despite its name, Bitcoin Japan has historically held no actual bitcoin. This is set to change with a newly announced plan to raise $60 million through EVO Fund, specifically earmarked for the acquisition of bitcoin. The company intends to finally build a portfolio of the leading cryptocurrency. This move represents a significant pivot for the firm, as prior funding rounds, including a December raise, were instead directed towards investments in artificial intelligence infrastructure. These previous investments included taking stakes in prominent companies such as SpaceX and Figure AI, which the company has cited as its two primary AI infrastructure investments to date.
