EU Imposes Sanctions on Crypto Platforms, Including HTX, Over Russia Ties
The European Union has expanded its sanctions list against Russia to include several crypto platforms, notably HTX. These platforms will face transaction bars starting August 23rd as part of the EU's ongoing efforts to prevent the circumvention of sanctions through digital assets.
EU Targets Crypto Exchanges in New Sanctions Round
The European Union has officially added a range of cryptocurrency platforms to its Russia sanctions list, a move aimed at further tightening economic pressure on Moscow. Among the prominent platforms named is HTX, an international digital asset exchange.
The new regulations, which prohibit transactions with the listed entities, are set to take effect on August 23rd. Alongside HTX, other crypto platforms included in this significant update are EXMO, Rapira, BitPapa, Aifory Pro, WhiteBird, NoOnecrypto, and Exnode.
This decision underscores the EU's growing focus on the crypto sector's role in potentially facilitating the bypass of existing sanctions, indicating a more robust regulatory stance towards digital asset service providers operating within or with ties to sanctioned regions.
