Solo Bitcoin Miners Continue to Hit Jackpots Amidst Industrial Dominance
A recent report highlights the remarkable success of solo Bitcoin miners, with one individual securing a full block reward of 3.125 BTC, valued at approximately $300,000. This single win wasn't split among a pool but went entirely to one address, underscoring a trend where solo operators are finding success despite the crypto mining industry being largely dominated by large-scale industrial operations. This particular win marks the 22nd instance of a solo miner hitting a block in the past 12 months.
A single Bitcoin (BTC) miner collected a full block reward on Jan. 13, claiming 3.125 BTC plus fees worth close to $300,000 at current prices. The win wasn't split among thousands of pool participants. One address received the entire payout in an industry dominated by industrial-scale mining operations commanding exahashes of compute power. But solo miners have been increasingly fortunate, with this being the latest of 22 such blocks hit in the past year.
